checking in to your body/mind
Prevention is knowing what your body is doing and then adjusting it. How could you accomplish that? Firstly check into your breathing. Is it even or irregular, smoothe and slow is the best unless you are exercising. Secondly sense your energy field that surrounds and interpenetrates your body. Is it calm or ruffled? Is it alive and charged or weak? How about your state of mind? Were you influenced by someone's mood? Are you joyful? Finally are you supple or stiff in various parts of your body and can you brerathe and srtech them out? A calm mind and supple body that is charged is what is the ideal and worth trying for with exercisses and awareness! posted by Owen Schwartz MD at 2:28 PM 0 comments March 24, 2006
Spirit and mind
Spirit and mind must navigate through the denser realms of the material plane to manifest their reality. Herein lies the challenge and the rewards for the necessary faith and discipline to carry through despite difficulties posted by Owen Schwartz MD at 9:42 PM 0 comments marriagethe true marriage is to god and soul and that marriage lasts forever. If a marriage to another interferes consistently with that sacred relationship then is it wrong to leave that relationship? posted by Owen Schwartz MD at 7:11 AM 3 comments the new medicineThe new mdicine offers clients resources to understand and solve health problems. The new medicine addresses the subltleties of complaints and symptoms and is specific to the symptom. The new medicine sees the symptoms in the context fo the energy dynamics of the body as a whole. kidney yin deficiency
yin represents nourishment. this can be exhausted if we give too much of ourselves to career, children and perhaps to aging parents. the fire of chronic anger and frustration may burn out the cooling mechanism of the yin or female energies. Symptoms such as dryness, overheeating , insomnia and exhaustion may occur. To heal this requires a change of lifestyle as well as specific herbs. Ultimately when we can receive nourishment from the peace and joy of the soul the yin is nourished as well! posted by Owen Schwartz MD at 8:43 PM 0 comments kidney yin deficiencyyin represents nourishment. this can be exhausted if we give too much of ourselves to career, children and perhaps to aging parents. the fire of chronic anger and frustration may burn out the cooling mechanism of the yin or female energies. Under the eye is the kidney region and redness is equivalent to heat. In a yin defiiciency the body lacks the cooling mechanism to prevent heat symptoms such as hot flashes. The diagnosis thus is kidney yin defiiency or a lack of cooling in the kidney energy system which easily happens in menopause. This can be treated by acupuncture or chinese herbs and perhaps by calming and breathing exercises-eg. the cooling breath in yoga posted by Owen Schwartz MD at 10:00 AM 0 comments March 15, 2006
telephone counselling
I realize that our connection with others is not limited by space. Absent healing is a known reality and is particularily profound during telephone counselling. The empathetic response of the healer can be transmitted over the phone to connect with the heart of the client. Also besides receiving energetic suport the client may obtain wise direction for his or her life journey! posted by Owen Schwartz MD at 11:23 PM 0 comments decision makingMaking a big important decision can lead to inner conflicts on which way to proceed. I am learning that time is my friend and having patience to allow for new information to arise may be critical to making the best decision. this requires trust and calmness and most of all asking the divine for help and waiting for the various signals to clarify themselves before proceeding posted by Owen Schwartz MD at 8:33 PM 0 comments March 13, 2006
new upcoming material
I am now in the process of writing about our offering on reclaiming the soul. the soul's voice is often drowned out by the many competing voices and experiences of life so we become unresponsive to its potential guidance. We need a reminder to re focus ourselves and attend to tis vital message. posted by Owen Schwartz MD at 11:37 PM 0 comments do you stay?Do you stay in a marriage or common law for the children? relationships
When a relationship draws upon one's energy instead of giving us energy, particularily in the presence of life challlenges, then that is a wake up call to examine why a person continues in a self defeatist pattern. Either effect a change or leave the relatiionship. the worst thing is to accept a draining relationship that is no longer nurturing. To remain imprisoned in such a situation is soul destroying and action must happen to alter the downward course. Attempts at reconnection, prayer and any other interventions are vital, rather than disease producing denial. posted by Owen Schwartz MD at 10:53 PM 0 comments March 08, 2006

hormones and menopause
perimenopause extends from well before the period ends to afterward (as long as there are symptoms of menopause). bioidentical hormones, those that are similar to the ones in the body are much better than synthetic hrmones. When we are looking at our own hormone levels, typically pre menopause is a time of excess estrogen similar to pre menstrual syndrome with irritability, breast swelling, bloating and weight gain as some of the symptoms. this usually represents estrogen excess and progesterone deficiency. after the cessation of periods estrogen level is reduced and symptoms such as poor memory, insomnia, heart palpitations and hot flashes occur. this represents estrogen and or progesterone deficiency. Also stress can increase cortisol levels which influences the hormones by increasing estrogen. Low thyroid further complicates the picture. A salivary hormone analysis can reveal alot about the current hormone functioning. But hormone repacement is only one of the options. de-stressing is very important and isoflavones such as soy and red clover modulate or improve the hormone balance. Also assessing the pulse, tongue and symptoms as in chinese medicine can determine if a person is out of balance. Forinstance a typical scenario is called yin deficiency fire. this means a deficiency in the nurturing and moisturizing qualities of yin resulting in an overabundance of yang which often rises to give headaches and dizziness. the fire of yin deficiency may result in hot flashes, heart palpitiaions and sore "bones". By adding herbs rich in yin quality and nourishing oneself the yin can be restored over time to help restore harmony and increase vitality. posted by Owen Schwartz MD at 1:59 PM 0 comments
